English Language Challenges

The year is ending and the beautiful moment arrives that the classes are over and i do not have to write more blogs
The English class of this semester was the same as the previous two, the only thing that changed was the schedule and do not know how felt the rest of my classmates but for me it was horrible have to get up early all Monday's to go to English.
I really do not like the class and I'm not very participative, and having computers available did not help my concentration ability.
In the English class I had to write blogs about topics that the teacher gave us (is the only reason why I create a blog) and this was one of the worst experience of this English course and the previous one, because It is very boring I hate write about topics that do not matter to me.
I love the language, I love watch movies in English, listen to music in English, etc. Usually with I try to speak in English when I am bored or when I want improve my pronunciation that with the grammar is an aspect that I need improve.

In conclusion I am very happy that I finishedthe English course, because next year I will have available the time that I spent in this subject to occupy it in the rest of my subjects that are most important.

Changes to my study program

As I mentioned before I am in second year studying forestry at the University of Chile these two years have gone well, but my last semester has been a bit more difficult and I am freaking out with the idea of failing a subject.
In my career they changed the curriculum five years ago, and was changed it for a "competition-based plan", honestly I do not know what that means but I think it's better than the previous program
I hope to finish my career in 3 more years, but this semester there are a couple of subjects that have made it difficult for me. The main one is biometrics, because I need a high mark in the exam to pass it  and in case I did not get to pass the subject, I can not go to practice and I would delay a year in the career (And that would be veeeery bad).
I do not know if I would change any subject in my program of studies, If someone asked me about that I would not know what to answer. I could say that I would take subjects like statistics, biometrics, among others but I would say it only because I do not like those subjects because i know that those are necessary in the career.

I think my unique suggestion for my study program is that the names of the subjects be not so long. For example in the first year one of the most important subject is called "Characterization and Interaction of the Biotic and Abiotic Components of Ecosystems" and I think it unnecessarily very long.

Summer holidays

In my holidays since I was a little girl I go to La Serena during January and to Temuco during February.
I have two aunts who live in those cities and it is something amazing because I love go and spend my holidays in those cities.
But everything changed upon I start to study forestry in university
My last holidays were more boring than usual because during last January I had practice for the university and lost two weeks of my vacation and I could not go to La Serena like every year.
But I was able to tour many places in region X and I spent a weekend in Puerto Varas with my friends.
During February I went to Antofagasta for one weekend (I went to my uncle's marriage) And the rest of the month I worked in a clothing store.
In summary the only entertainment I did on my last holiday was trekking and swimming in the pool.
But the next holidays will be different because I will go to Viña del Mar for a week and then go to the practice of the university for two weeks (If I pass biometrics) one week will be in Pantanillos and the other in Malleco.
And in February I will go to Machu Picchu and visit different parts of Peru and Bolivia for 20 days.

I'll go with my boyfriend and with a friend and I am very excited about this trip because it will be a lot of fun and a great experience

Astronomy

Resultado de imagen para stars chile

I don’t know much about this topic, but I find it very interesting and complicated in the sense that investigates the universe, which I believe is one of the most difficult areas to study because it isn’t something tangible and many people think it's infinite.
Two years ago I went to Mamalluca Observatory located 9 kilometers Northwest of Vicuña in the region of Coquimbo.
I went with my dad and two cousins during the holidays and it was a fun trip, we bought the tickets in Vicuña and we had to wait two hours in Vicuña, and it was a little boring because it was 12 AM and there was nothing open and our tour started at 2 AM.
After a long wait we had to go to the observatory and this was very large and the sky looked beautiful full of stars.
When we first arrived the astronomers of the observatory gave us a talk about the universe and the earth, then we were taught to recognize different constellations (And the guide gave us a very powerful laser). We visited a giant telescope (It was the best part of the tour) in which we could saw Saturn (And it was amazing because I never thought I would see her rings). And finally we visited the museum and we returned to La Serena.

It was an incredible experience in which I could learn more about astronomy.

Actually I’m at the end of my second year of forestry and I hope finish the career in 3 more years and I don’t know if I want to work immediately or study a postgraduate.
In my faculty there are two possible masters to do, one of them is in wild areas and nature conservation and the other on Environmental Planning and Management. The first call my attention because it’s about how nature is changing due to the action of man, and how economic growth is changing the relationship between society and the environment.
Also within the faculty of Forest science and nature conservation is also the option of holder of a diploma (there are 4 available), But it’s not within my plans to make one.
Because I’m attracted to the idea of starting to work as soon as possible to no longer depend on my parents and go live alone outside of Santiago to the south of Chile.

Really I’m not sure about if I want to do a postgraduate or not, because there is a lot of time for think about that, and for the moment I just want to concentrate in my current subjects to finish my career in 3 more year. And when the right time comes I’ll think about the idea of do a postgraduate.

My future job

Resultado de imagen para forestry

When I was 16 I wanted to study Marine biology in the university “Catolica del Norte” located in Coquimbo, because I love the sea and I think the marine life is very interesting, but I realized that I was not ready to go live alone to another city and I began to investigate a little more about the career and I realized that I was not sure if I wanted to work on that in the future.
When I was 18, I was freaked out because I was in my last year of school and I had two months to decide that I wanted to study. So I started looking for all the possible university careers and thus I discovered forestry.
I loved the career (I still love it, most of the time) and I felt that I would be happy working on that in the future because I would not have to be sitting all day in an office.
When I started studying I discovered that within the career there are different possible areas in which to work. And I realized that many people in second year have already chose the area he likes and start working with a teacher as a teaching assistant  or working in laboratories.
I'm in second year and I'm still not sure which area to choose so I think I'll have to investigate to decide what area I'd like to work in the future.

National Parks

The last national park  I visited was Alerce andino this park is located in the X region of the Lakes, in the province of Llanquihue.
I visited this park in january of this year during the summer practice, and it was a great experience because despite walking a lot I knew a wonderful place.
The Alerce Andino National Park is part of the Reserve of the Biosphere Temperate Rainforests of the Southern Andes, And in this place it is possible to protect different species of fauna like, pudú, cougar, güiña, monito del monte, Condor, the black carpenter and huet-huet.
The fauna present in this park is constituted mainly of Fitzroya cupressoides (alerce), but there are also other species like Nothofagus nítida (Coihue de Chiloe), Nothofagus betuloides (Coihue de Magallanes), Nothofagus pumilio (Lenga), Podocarpus nubigenus (Mañio) and Drimys winteri (Canelo).
Inside the park there are different paths (which are not connected together) and these have duration of several hours.
When I went to the national park we walk by the path to the cold lagoon (we walk for a long time) but it was fun at the same time because I was going with my friends, and at the end, when we arrived at the lagoon we ran to refresh ourselves and swim while we admired the beautiful landscape.
